Starting strong

The school year here at the University of Washington is ramping up, and whether it’s late night ping-pong tournaments or group study sessions in the living room, the Evans Scholars are hard at work. Spirits are high as we continue to settle into the newly renovated Evans Scholarship House on 21st Avenue. The executive board is beginning to set up house operations such as chores and mailboxes, and a group of students will be heading down to Oregon this weekend to visit their fellow Scholars and cheer on the Huskies!

Reflecting on her first weeks in the new Scholarship House, Katya, a freshman, says, “Living in the Evans Scholarship House has allowed me to go into college with a second family that I can go to right away. I look forward to making life-long memories with them and creating new friendships.”

John Marks, our first chapter president, has this to say: “My favorite part has been watching our chapter come together and create our own community; it's something we haven't had the opportunity to do before this year, and in just two quick weeks we've become a close-knit group.”

Everyone at the Washington Evans Scholarship House is excited to be a part of something new, and we are confident that together we can foster a community that will grow better and stronger over the years to come!

Thank you to everyone who has so generously supported us, and stay tuned - great things will happen here.
